The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry commissioned the New
Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization(NEDO) to conduct
the Human Friendly and Supportive Robot System Project over FY1998 to FY2002.
One of the fruits of this research was the Humanoid Robot Software Platform,
OpenHRP. General Robotix, Inc. was formed in October 2002 with the help
of the AIST Innovation Center for Startups, one of it's tasks being the
commercialization of OpenHRP. The main activity is currently the support,
development and distribution of the software for the Humanoid robot HRP-2
made by Kawada Industries. Other activities include robot related custom software
development using the technologies we gained while developing HRP-2.
